Social Media Minimum Age Bill
Body

On the 21st of November 2024, the Australian Labor Government guillotined a bill through the House of Representatives and through the Senate, leaving only one day for public submissions to be lodged. The Bill in question is the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill.

The reason for my submission is that part of the legislation introduces a minimum age requirement of 16 years. The text of the Bill is lacking in detail on how it will be implemented. However, it doesn't leave much to the imagination to realise that to implement such a measure, it would have to be rolled out to all Australian social media users irrespective. There are many issues as to the Bill's implementation, hence the reason for my Submission.

Below is a link to my submission, as well as links to the legislation.
